Jake Shapiro, AC

Jake is an up-and-coming cinematographer and camera assistant based out of the NY-NJ area. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Montclair State University’s emerging film program. In the last few years, he has lensed over 10 narrative short films, several documentaries, and worked as a camera assistant and gaffer on over 50 short/feature films, music videos, and commercial projects.

Jake’s dedication to craft and his persistence in asking “Why?” over “How?” make him an efficient, bold, and genuine storyteller behind the camera. Each frame he creates is composed, lit, and motivated by careful thought and attention to meaning within the given story, while a calm demeanor and attention to detail make him a skilled assistant. A simple yet powerful love for the craft of filmmaking is where it begins and ends.
